At 15 years old a recurring stress fracture in my lumbar spine ended my ten year gymnastics career. Over the next decade I struggled to find an activity that was equally as challenging, fun, and rewarding. I spent a few years running 5Ks and 10 milers, and another few years in the globo gym. However, neither were particularly enjoyable, and sometimes I would take month long breaks from working out. Luckily in 2013 I heard the CrossFit buzz and decided to check it out for myself. Like many of us, I was hooked after my first workout.
Within a year I completed the L1 Seminar, and was helping others achieve their fitness and life goals by applying what I learned about the healing power of functional movement and proper nutrition. My experience with CrossFit also played a big role in my decision to pursue physical therapy. In 2017 I moved to Seattle to attend the University of Washington’s DPT program, where I am currently a third year student. I am excited to incorporate my growing knowledge of the musculoskeletal system with CrossFit methodology as a member of the CrossFit Old Fashion training team.
